A Year Ago Today || November 7, 2017
A year ago today my sweet family of 3 was zipping up our suitcases preparing to travel thousands of miles to become a family of 4. We had spent the last 13 months preparing for this day. Countless hours, prayers, miracles answered, now had us less than 24-hours before we would bored our airplane and begin our travels east. Destination - China.
I can’t really put into words what it felt like. So many emotions. So many thoughts. So much anticipation. So much preparation. But amongst all of that was complete and utter calm. A peace that surpassed understanding.
I was ready. Ready to get on a plane. Ready to hold my sweet boy. Ready to start this journey.
The night before we flew out, we met dear friends for dinner. A few month prior, in August, we happened to find them at this same location for dinner the night before they flew out to meet and bring home their sweet little man, Bram. So, what better way to start our journey, than to kick things off with a send-off dinner with their beautiful family of 7, and our final days as a family of 3.
Janay and I had walked their second adoption and our adoption journeys together. The amount of text messages we sent back and forth throughout our adoption processes could fill the War and Peace Book. Okay, maybe not that book, but we’d come close! She was (and still is) a rock through our journey. I am so grateful our boys have each other as friends. They are more than just friends.
The next 14 days are filled with so many wonderful and beautiful memories that I look forward to sharing with you all.
