Camping People vs Hotel People

Camping People vs Hotel People

Tents vs Trailers.

Okay - Here’s the deal. I grew up camping. Every Labor Day weekend my family would join a huge group of other families from our church and we would all go camping. It was a blast and I love the memories.

But now I’m that parent with this one kid who keeps asking me (obviously it’s Brooklynn) to go camping and “how much fun it would be” to go camping.

Then there’s me, who reeeeeeaaaallly hates sleeping on the ground (even with an air mattress), being cold, and trekking to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Am I crushing her camping dreams??

Don’t get me wrong - I love the outdoors. I love hiking, getting my hands dirty, and being out in the beautiful creation God created. But camping - gah - It just sounds like a WHOLE lotta work.

When we moved into our current house, my parents gave us all their old camping equipment.

That was 7 years ago.

Have we gone camping? Nope. Not even once. I’ve camped in hotels. Does that count? LOL

I WOULD however totally camp in a trailer! I’d be off the ground, have my own bathroom, be able to put the kids to bed and still enjoy the evening.

I threw out the idea to Jerry of “how much fun it would be” if we restored an old trailer, and that we would TOTALLY become camping people if we did. But he isn’t totally sold on my idea yet.

Maybe someday he will be sold on my idea of renovating a trailer and we will become camping people. I still think it would be fun and am totally jumping on Craigslist after writing this post to look for more vintage trailers.

But until that day - camping in hotels it is!
